Early Years & Preschool Years

Inquiring Through Play and Investigations

Rooted in our Natural Rhythm® pedagogy and informed by neuroscience, our Inquiring Minds curriculum recognises that play is one of the most powerful ways young children learn.

During the early years, the brain is forming connections at an incredible pace, and purposeful play helps strengthen those neural pathways.

We begin with exploratory play that encourages infants and toddlers to observe, interact, and discover at their own pace. As children grow, this evolves into guided inquiry-based learning, where they are empowered to ask questions, investigate topics of interest, and share ideas with their peers.

This approach builds essential cognitive skills, promotes language development, and nurtures a deep sense of curiosity – laying the groundwork for confident, independent learners who are ready for the world ahead.

Early Years: Playgroup and Pre-Nursery (18 months to 3 years)

In the early years, children explore the world through active play, sensory experiences, and everyday interactions. This period is a key window for neural development, and our learning environments are designed to align with how the brain naturally builds connections during these formative years.

Physical development is supported through activities like climbing, dancing, and outdoor exploration, which build strength, coordination, and body awareness. Open-ended play environments such as the mud kitchen encourage imaginative thinking, early problem-solving, and sensory learning. With the support of nurturing educators, children also begin to express emotions, form relationships, and develop early communication skills.

This stage lays a strong foundation for lifelong learning, where curiosity is celebrated, confidence is nurtured, and every discovery matters.

Preschool Years: Nursery to Kindergarten 2 (4 to 6 years)

As children move into the preschool years, their ability to focus, collaborate, and think critically continues to grow. With the brain still undergoing rapid development, this stage offers rich opportunities to deepen thinking and social-emotional maturity.

Educators guide children through inquiry-based experiences where they learn to ask thoughtful questions, make predictions, test ideas, and communicate what they have discovered. Whether they are exploring how plants grow, experimenting with water flow, or retelling stories through role-play, children are actively developing problem-solving, language, and social-emotional skills.

This stage equips them with the confidence, mindset, and capabilities needed for a successful transition to primary school, while nurturing a lifelong love for learning.

Embedded Enrichment

At KiddiWinkie Schoolhouse, we believe that a child’s learning journey should be as diverse and dynamic as the world around them. That’s why we embed a range of enrichment programmes directly into our core preschool curriculum. These experiences support holistic development across physical, cognitive, social, and creative domains.

These programmes are not optional extras. They are thoughtfully designed and integrated into the daily schedule to enhance developmental outcomes, spark joy in learning, and build essential 21st-century skills from the earliest years.

Enrichment offerings may vary by centre, depending on the needs and interests of the children. We encourage families to enquire directly with your preferred centre to learn more about the specific programmes available.

Multi-Sports

Introducing children to various sports and essential movement skills. They develop coordination, agility, and gross motor control through fun and engaging activities with balls, sticks, and rackets. This also nurtures values such as sportsmanship, teamwork, and resilience which are key to character building.

Music and Movement

Our music and movement programme engages the body and  enhances balance, spatial awareness, and body coordination, while nurturing focus, creativity, and self-expression which are crucial for academic readiness and emotional well-being.

Introducing children to art elements, techniques, and famous artists through age-appropriate, hands-on projects. Art promotes multisensory learning, sharpens fine motor skills, and fosters creative expression. Children gain confidence and cultural appreciation while exploring different art forms.

Third Language Enrichment - French, Japanese, Korean

In selected centres, children are exposed to French, Japanese, or Korean through lessons conducted by native-speaking teachers. Early multilingual experiences improve cognitive flexibility, memory, and global awareness. These classes prepare children for an increasingly interconnected world.

Our coding programme introduces preschoolers to early coding and problem-solving through hands-on activities.
